Foxes sweep Yorkville Invitational

The Foxes opened the 2018 cross country season with a pair of team victories at the Yorkville Invitational Tuesday. 

Originally scheduled for Aug. 20, rain and thunderstorms postponed the meet to Aug. 21. 

The boys started things off by putting six runners in the top 10. Alex Loos led the Foxes with a runner-up finish in 16 minutes, 13.4 seconds. He was followed close behind by Ben Tholen in third place at 16:14.7. Corey Kramer (4th, 16:22), Jackson Edwards (7th, 16:46) and Ivan Westcott (9th, 17:05) rounded out the scorers for YHS, while Austin Hunter (10th, 17:05) and Jack Brucher (13th, 17:12) were in the top seven.


Olivia Borowiak led the way as the girls also put six runners in the top 10. Borowiak secured a runner-up finish for the Foxes with a 17:36.4. Helena Kleronomos was close behind in third place with a 17:39 and Kailey Fox just behind in fourth place at 17:43.5. Sara Klemm (6th, 18:49) and Mady Klebenow (7th, 19:16) finished in the scoring five for YHS, while Sam Moreno (10th, 19:50) and Hailey Simmons (13th, 19:56.3) rounded out the top seven. 


Up next for the Foxes is the First to the Finish Invitational at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Detweiller park is also the site of the IHSA State Meet, held Nov. 3, 2018.
