Foxes rock in SterlingSunday, September 23 2018 - Rock River Run Invite
The Foxes fair well at the 2018 Rock River Run, held in Sterling on Saturday. The girls varsity won the championship while boys varsity was runner up.

The girls varsity team put together an impressive race with three girls in the top four and six in the top 13. Kailey Fox was the top finisher for the Foxes with a runner-up finish in 17 minutes, 47.8 seconds. Emily Eberhart (3rd, 17:54.8) was right behind as was Helena Kleronomos (4th, 17:59). Sara Klemm (8th, 18:15.6) and Olivia Borowiak (10th, 18:28) rounded out the scorers, while Hailey Simmons (13th, 19:07.5) and Anna Hunter (19:24.5) were in the top seven for the varsity squad. Sam Moreno (29th, 19:47.3) also earned a medal for her effort.

The boys varsity was led by a strong individual effort by sophomore Ivan Westcott, who led the race until eventually settling for third overall in 15:45.3. Ben Tholen (7th, 16:07.9) was also in the top 10 for the Foxes. Jackson Edwards (14th, 16:28.6), Alex Loos (25th, 16:44.9), Jack Stillmunkes (28th, 16:47.3), Corey Kramer (30th, 16:52.2) and Austin Hunter (38th, 17:01.6) rounded out the top seven for the Foxes.

On the Fr/So level, the girls took third with 72 points, behind champion Hononegah's 41 and East Moline United's 63. Margaret Hunter (5th, 20:49.6) and Ana Penland (6th, 20:49.7) led the Foxes, with Laura Taylor (14th, 21:42.4) cracking the top 15. The boys team took fourth place, led by Austin Popplewell (9th, 17:30.7).
Next the Foxes varsity team heads to the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota Sept. 29. The whole team is back in action at the very prestigious Naperville Twilight Invitational October 3 at Naperville North High School.
