Girls win prestigious Griak Invitational

Saturday, September 29 2018 - Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational


Led by four in the top 25, the Foxes took the Girls Gold division championship at the 2018 Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota. The race featured many top-ranked teams in the nation.

Helena Kleronomos was the first Yorkville athlete to finish, clocking an 18 minute, 27.8 second effort over the hilly 5 kilometer course. Emily Eberhart (15th, 18:29.90), Kailey Fox (18th, 18:37.80) and Sara Klemm (24th, 18:53) all cracked top 25 honors. Hailey Simmons (50th, 19:28) rounded out the top 5 scorers. Olivia Borowiak (62nd, 19:38.30) Anna Hunter (90th, 19:54.3), Sam Moreno (119th, 20:13.90), Nicki Vergara (200th, 20:54.90) and Margaret Hunter (207th, 21:01.00) all ran for the Foxes.

The boys were led by Ivan Westcott's 23rd-place finish in 16:31.40. Ben Tholen (54th, 16:50.90), Alex Loos (107th, 17:11.20), Jackson Edwards (150th, 17:27.90) and Corey Kramer (181st, 17:40.2) were also scorers for the Foxes, who placed 14th in the meet. Jack Stillmunkes (184th, 17:40:90), Austin Hunter (196th, 17:44.60), Nicolas Clever (302nd, 18:15.50) and Aiden Goodwin (334th, 18:28.3) also ran at the Foxes.
