Girls second, Boys 12th at Twilight

Thursday, October 4 2018 - Naperville Twilight Invitational

A quick turnaround for the Yorkville Cross Country teams saw them at another prestigious meet just days after a successful trip to Minnesota's Griak Invitational.

The boys varsity placed 12th with 266 points. Ivan Westcott led the way once again with another solid performance, finishing 14th in 15 minutes, 49.7 seconds. Ben Tholen (51st, 16:26.4), Alex Loos (54th, 16:29.8), Corey Kramer (70th, 16:43.9) and Jack Stillmunkes (79th, 16:47.8) were in the scoring five, while Jackson Edwards (79th, 16:47.8) and Austin Hunter (88th, 16:53.9) were also in the top seven.

After a win over Naperville North at Griak, the Huskies turned the favor on the Foxes Wednesday. Host Naperville North won the girls varsity meet over Yorkville 70-80, with Downers Grove South — also coming back from a third place finish at Griak — placed third with 103 points. Kailey Fox was the lead runner for the Foxes, finishing in sixth place in 17:39.1. Emily Eberhart (7th, 17:40) was right behind, while Kelena Kleronomos (12th, 17:57.8) also finished in the top 15. Sara Klemm (25th, 18:33.5) and Olivia Borowiak (30th, 18:49.4) were also scorers for the Foxes. Hailey Simmons (40th, 19:04.5), Same Moreno (53rd, 19:17.8) and Anna Hunter (79th, 19:49.7) also ran in the varsity race for Yorkville.

At the lower levels, Nicki Vergara (20:01.3) and Margaret Hunter finished fourth and 13th overall in the girls fr/so race.
